Selection Process

The information you provide in your application form and accompanying documentation plays a key part in the decision to invite you to an interview.

Once the deadline has passed, our Human Resources team will review all the applications, in consideration with the relevant department, and shortlist the best candidates to put forward to interview.

If you are successful, Human Resources will be in contact to organise an interview date.

Due to the high volume of applications, please assume that you have been unsuccessful if you do not hear from human resources within 2 weeks after the closing date.

Your Interview

Once you have agreed an interview date, you will receive a confirmation letter.

Due to college policy, we regrettably do not subsidise or pay in full any interview expenses.

Depending on the position you have applied for, your interview maybe a group interview, in front of a panel of interviewers or just one person from Human Resources and one manager.

You may also be expected to part-take in a small test or exercise, or be asked to present to a panel of interviewers. This will be confirmed with you prior to the interview.

Once the college has conducted all of the interviews, the Human Resources Team will be in touch to let you know the outcome of your application.

Employee Checks

The original certificates of qualifications listed in your application, which are relevant to the post for which you are applying, will need to be seen by the college if you are successful. Photocopies will not be accepted. A photocopy will be retained as proof of validation of your qualifications.

Certificates or a letter of confirmation of professional body status will also need to be seen, where applicable.

The college requires successful applicants to complete a health questionnaire, against which a risk assessment may then be undertaken.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will include a check of the barred lists and any relevant overseas checks, will be undertaken in the event of a successful application, given that the college provides education to children and adults at risk. Alternatively, if you are currently registered to the DBS Update Service, you will be required to provide further information at interview.

The college will require proof that you are eligible to work in the UK. Example of eligible documents include a valid passport, National Insurance card or birth certificate. More information on eligible documents can be found here.

Do you have a criminal record?

If yes, and short-listed for the job, you will need to provide full details, including the context of any convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings. This information will be requested as part of the interview invitation and candidates must provide information prior to the interview in an email marked ‘Confidential, Attention of Human Resources’. We guarantee that this information will only be seen by those who need to see it as part of the recruitment process.

It's a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a role which is classed as regulated activity (i.e. involves working with children and/or adults at risk).

As a college using the 'Disclosure and Barring Service' (DBS) to assess applicants for positions of trust, we comply fully with the DBS Code of Practice and undertake to treat all applicants for positions fairly.
