1066-linkSussex Coast College has revamped its services to employers. Vice Principal, Dan Shelley, whose brief is Enterprise, Employment & Skills, has renewed emphasis on local employers taking more ownership of the Skills agenda.

"I want the college to be seen by business as a vital part of the formula for growth. I am extending an open invitation to employers to help us direct our resources to meet their specific training needs. In some cases we will even be able to work with business partners to develop new accredited qualifications."

The college’s offer to employers has been streamlined to target four key areas that will generate value to business.

Employers looking for staff can recruit from a pool of work ready people. In partnership with employers, the college designs short, intensive accredited pathways for local job-seekers, giving them the confidence and skills needed to fill local job vacancies.

Inside Track
works in partnership with JobCentre Plus and other welfare to work programme providers to train local people for employers to interview, take on a work trial or directly employ. By working together the college can provide employers with a cost-effective recruitment process and support local people get back into work.

Initial employer partnerships have generated jobs for people in Prime Care, Pets at Home, Dunhelm Mill and we are currently developing a programme for Hastings DirectIf you want us to tailor a programme to meet your recruitment needs then contact 01424 458570 or email on This email address is being protected from spambots. This year, the college has 1,500 students who are looking for work placements as part of its Work Skills and Employability programmes. Placements improve employability and give young people a real taste of work.
Or could you offer a visit to your premises or come into College to talk about you, your business or the sector you work in to inspire learners and give them a fuller understanding of competences and skills you are looking for.
