Intermediate Course in Sports Studies
What entry requirements do I need?
You will need a minimum of: 4 GCSEs grade A*- D (grade 3 - 9) including English and maths, or Level 1 Sport and Active Leisure qualification.
What will I learn?
During our one-year BTEC Extended Certificate in Sport you will gain an insight into the many disciplines associated with, and incorporated in sport. You will develop practical skills, theoretical knowledge and understanding of the sports industry throughout the course. Learning will take place in the classroom and in our fully-equipped gym where you will explore the components of fitness, how to improve sports performance, how lifestyle and wellbeing can impact of personal fitness and performance, as well as analysing the mind and what affect psychology can have.

- The Sports Performer in Action
- Training for Personal Fitness
- Leading Sports Activities
- Promotion and Sponsorship in Sport
- Lifestyle and Well Being
- Running a Sports Event
- The Sport and Active Leisure Industry
- Profiling Sports Performance
You will use your passionate for sport, exercise and fitness to gain an understanding of the underlying scientific principles within this exciting industry
You will be assessed through a range of 25% practical tasks, 60% coursework assignments and 15% exams.
What could I progress on to?
On completion of this course you can progress on to our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, where further skills will prepare you for a career in Sport and Active leisure.
With additional training you can start your career as a Fitness instructor, Personal trainer, PE teacher, Youth worker, Sport coach or Outdoor Educator.
