You will need a minimum of: A good school report, attendance record and attitude towards work, plus attendance at the 'Get to Know' day.
During the course you will focus on the practical and personal skills youll need to work in the Motor trade. You will learn in our dedicated garages and workshops at our Automotive Training Centre where the course will fit with your individual needs and experience to give you an introduction into how light vehicles work, the electrical systems used in light vehicles and how the maintenance of engines. You will also improve your English, maths, IT and employability skills, all of which are essential for starting your career in the automotive industry.

By the end of the course you will have learnt the skills needed to progress into a Level 2 course or an apprenticeship.
During this one-year course you will use your passion and interest in cars to develop a range of skills needed to work in the Motor Vehicle industry.
You will be assessed through observation of your workshop activities and tasks, exams, and a portfolio of your work.
Once you have completed the course you can progress into an Apprenticeship or a full-time Level 2 course in Vehicle Maintenance or Vehicle Mechanical, Electrical and Trim.
There are a number of career opportunities available for you in the motor industry such as becoming a trainee mechanic or working in vehicle valeting.
There will be an additional cost of approximately £100 to purchase safety boots and black work trousers, and to cover the cost of a course trip.
