What entry requirements do I need?
You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 including English and maths; or successful completion of Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance (all 6 units).
What will I learn?
During our Level 3 course you will gain essential knowledge and skills in fault diagnosis and rectification. You will learn in our dedicated garages and workshops at our Automotive Training Centre and have use of the latest industry standard equipment working individually and as part of a team to find, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on a wide range of light vehicles. You will also improve your English, maths, IT and employability skills during the course.
You will explore a range of topics including:
- Engine diagnostics and repair
- Electronic and electrical system diagnostics and repair
- Transmission diagnostic and repair
- Chassis systems diagnostics and repair
During this advance course you will be able to extend your knowledge and improve you skills in fault rectification and diagnosis.
Your assessments will be made up of 40% practical, 30% coursework and 30% exams.
What could I progress on to?
On completion of the course you will have gained a range of skills that will allow you to progress into employment or onto further study at University.
You may have opportunities to start your career in the industry working as a skilled mechanic, an MOT tester or in a customer facing role.
There will be a small additional cost for the course as you will be required to wear safety boots and black work trousers during the course.
