You will have the opportunity to undertake work experience placements, as well develop your skills in maths and English.

The course focuses on key practical skills and theory, covering areas such as:

  • Health and Safety
  • Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
  • Common plumbing processes

  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation

You will further increase your knowledge and technical ability of plumbing during workshop based lessons and work experience opportunities, helping to prepare you for a career in the plumbing trade.

Assessments will take place throughout the duration of the course. Practical tasks will make up 50% of the assessment and the other 50% will be made up of exams. Constructive feedback from your tutor will help you to improve and progress towards recognised industrial standards.

What could I progress on to?

On completion of the course you can progress onto the Level 3 Plumbing course or start an apprenticeship in plumbing.

With additional training you could then progress into employment as a Plumber, a domestic heating engineer, a Commercial plumbing and heating engineer, a Plumbing and heating maintenance engineer, a Hot and cold water systems designer, an Air-conditioning and refrigeration systems engineer, or a Site manager.
