What entry requirements do I need?

You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSEs grade A*- C (grade 4 - 9) including English and maths.

What will I learn?

Using your knowledge of IT as a base, you will be able to expand your learning to understand the world of digital media.

During the two years you will broaden your digital media knowledge and develop technical skills that will allow you to create interactive content, along with moving image and audio products. You will gain a thorough understanding of the whole product life-cycle, from pre-production and planning, right the way through to consumers buying the product. You will also explore marketing principles and understand how tools such as film, animation and social media can be used for promotion.

You will cover topics including:

  • Media products and audiences
  • Pre-production and planning
  • Create a media product
  • Social media and globalisation
  • Interactive Media Product
  • TV and Short Film Production
  • Research for Product Development
  • Application of Converging Technologies within Digital Design Proposals.

You will also have the chance to develop your skills further by completing specialist units, for example, radio production or cinematography. You will then have an option to choose one of two pathways to explore in more depth, depending on your chosen career path: Digital Content for Interactive Media or Moving Image and Audio Production

Your assessments will be carried out through a range of different assignments and coursework tasks

What could I progress on to?

This course is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels, so on successful completion of the course you could progress onto university to study Broadcast Media, Journalism and Media Studies.

You may wish to start your career and could go into a number of differnt roles including: Live boradcasting, Television, Radio, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, and Digital Media

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
