What entry requirements do I need?
You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/5 including English and maths. DBS check will be required.
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn about the principles and practices of working in an adult care setting. You will develop your skills so that you are able to clearly and confidently communicate information, contribute to health, safety, and safeguarding, and develop you professional practice so that you can demonstrate the behaviours expected by employers in the adult care setting.
You will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge in subjects including:
- Developing effective communication
- Equality, diversity and rights
- Health, safety and security
- Development through the life stages
- Anatomy and physiology
- Personal and professional development
- Sociological perspectives
- Psychological perspectives
Our extensive links with local health and social care organisations will help you to find suitable work placements during your studies, with the potential to give you the best possible start in a career in health and social care after college.
Our advanced-level qualification is taught by our experienced health and social care professionals. You will develop your knowledge and skills in the subject and prepare for employment in the industry.
All assignments will be in the form of course work, role-play exercises, film making, open book tests, and exhibitions and presentations, as well as written essays.
What could I progress on to?
Once you have successfully completed this course you will be in a great position to start your career in a care setting. You could find roles as a youth worker, social worker, or in organisations such as care homes.
Other options could include specialising in another of our Level 3 courses or starting an apprenticeship.
Students on this course will be charged for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to enable the college and the placement settings to check any criminal convictions that may affect your ability to work in this sector. (This replaces the old Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.) The current cost is £55. During the course there will also be an additional cost for educational visits.
