What will I learn?
During this two-year course you will understand the world of law, how laws are made and why the legal system exists.
Over the duration of this course you will constantly be sharpening your legal mind and developing analytical and critical thinking skills. You will understand how UK legal system works and the ways in which it affects everyday life. You will understand the process of law making, including the process followed for passing new laws and how they are applied through the courts. During the second year you will get into the specialisms of law, studying the concept of liability, criminal law, tort, and contract. You will also consider how and what constitutes an offence against a person and the court procedure and sentencing, moving on to offences against property, all while considering how law relates to morality and justice.
During the course you will cover units in:
- Law Making and the Legal System
- Concept of Liability
- Criminal Law, offences against the person
- Criminal Law, offences against property
- Human Rights Law
Your assessments will be entirely through exams and will consists of 4 papers from the WJEC exam board.
What could I progress on to?
On completion of this course you can progress onto degree level study in Law, Criminology, International Relations or Politics.
There are a number of career opportunities available for you to follow such as a solicitor, barrister, para-legal, working with national charities.
There may be some additional costs during the course for trips and visits to further your learning
