Rentokil Locusts

Rentokil Initial will be bringing two interactive pop-ups, ‘Pestaurant’ and ‘Hygiene Angels’ to Sussex Coast College next month.

Rentokil will set up their award-winning Pestaurant on Wednesday 14th June to give students and visitors the chance to try ‘entomophagy’ (the official name for insect eating) at their ‘mini-bug buffet’. Diners will be able to sample a range of edible insects, including buffalo worms, locusts, BBQ bamboo worms, flying termites and even ‘Frankenstein Fudge’.

Hygiene Angels promotes and educates on the importance of proper hand washing. Hygiene Angels was launched in July 2014 in London, setting a new world record for the number of hands and personal items swabbed during the course of an hour. Visitors to this pop-up will be given the chance to have their hands and belongings swabbed at the Initial Washroom Hygiene swabbing zone, to see how clean they really are.

On the day, both pop-ups will be run from 10am – 2pm and will be located in the atrium of the college.

Dr Peter Barratt, Initial Washroom Hygiene, comments, “Personal items, such as phones, handbags and computers come into regular contact with our hands, and our Hygiene Angels pop-up highlights just how high the risk of cross-contamination is, how easily germs can spread from one surface to another and why we all need to take more responsibility to improve our hand hygiene.”
